Philatelic Collection

My earliest memories of philately trace back to childhood, when I would accompany my father to the main post office at Parliament Street, New Delhi. While his visits were often to send mail, he would invariably take time to browse newly released stamps and First Day Covers (First Day Covers are philatelic collectables that preserve the moment of a stamp’s official release, bearing the affixed stamp that is cancelled on its very first day of issue. It is available only on that very first day of release.) Those moments quietly sowed the seeds of a lifelong interest for me.

As the years passed, this curiosity matured into a serious hobby. My collection steadily expanded, and with it came a deeper understanding of the nuances of philately, particularly the unique value of First Day Covers autographed by eminent personalities such as politicians, royalty, and heads of state.

Presented here is a selection from my personal collection of such autographed First Day Covers, beginning from 1961, where each piece is not just a collectable, but a fragment of history preserved in ink and paper.
